  Use computational methods to study interactions of Au (and/or Cu), CO and O3 along reaction pathways.Complete matrix isolation studies of three main systems: O3 and CO, O3, Cu- and counter-cations, and O3, CO, Cu- and counter-cations in argon matrices. Completed computational studies on Au ions and neutral atoms, CO, and O2 and found cooperative binding occurs upon addition of CO and O2 to Au atoms.Built ozone generator for matrix isolation experiments of ozone and anionic metal atoms and clusters.Built ozone delivery system, separate from deposition system that delivers CO.Completed matrix isolation experiments of ozone in argon matrices. Worked in a team to determine how parameters of a nanoclusters source affect the energy (birth potential) of copper clusters and optimize the ion pathway for cluster deposition.Gained experience with vacuum systems and Swagelok fittings.
