      Frame builder and assistant installer

I worked all around Nelson New Zealand, assisting my boss in the installation of solar hot water heating systems on residential homes.I would also build the frames to the desired degree to suit the roof it was going on to.All this was done from a start up franchise business run out of my bosses garage. This was an absolutely awesome job but due to being at the start up stages, the wages were just to low to live off.

      Bosun

Started from never having stepped on a fishing vessel in my life to spending the last 5 years on the vessel in a senior management position. Life on board consists of shifts of 6hrs on- 6hrs off on a continuous cycle for periods of up to 9weeks at a time, normal trip lengths would vary between 5-7weeks out at sea depending on the season.I worked as a factory hand for a year then a deckhand for 3years, then bosun and relief second mate for 5years on board a 66m deep sea fishing trawler called the Rehua. Fishing mainly around the west & east coast of the South island of NZ as will as south of Stewart island, and the odd couple of months fishing around the coast of Tasmania.I knew this entire boat from inside and out and inspected damn near everything there was to inspect on it.I ran various safety drills, and training while onboard. This was literally the beginning of my passion for a career in health and safety. Vinyl laying apprentice

Apprentice Vinyl layer/labourer,travelling all over Melbourne city and suburbs to different construction sites, from start to finish of the job.Assisting in pre floor preparation procedures & placement of vinyl material.Physically demanding job with long hours and a lot of commuting daily. This job was extremely rewarding by being able to walk away looking back at yet another perfect vinyl floor.Eventually it was time to pursue my health and safety career, but I got a great insight into health and safety procedures within a construction site full of a wide variety of different trades.
