  I worked under Dr. Aaron Somerhalder for 5 weeks in this Geriatric outpatient orthopedics setting. Common pathologies and treatments were post-op joint replacement and repair, balance and fall risk, as well as several patients post-stroke. My responsibilities included creating and implementing daily treatments, HEP's, as well as documentation. I was also given the opportunity to observe wound care. I provided an in-service on safe fall landing strategies.

  I worked under Dr. Joey DiMercurio for 10 weeks at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Desert Canyon. I worked with a wide range of patient populations and pathologies. The majority of my time here was spent seeing older adults with neurological conditions. I did gain exposure, however, to wound care, orthopedics, oncological care, memory care, and more. I presented an inservice on clinical outcome measures.

  I worked under Dr. Mary Papin as a member of the inpatient PT team at the VA medical center in North Las Vegas. This is an acute care hospital where I cared for patients on a variety of wards with a variety of diagnoses. The majority of patients were 65+. I managed all aspects of patient care from evaluations to interventions to discharge planning. I provided an inservice on the GG grid and the CARE tool.

  I worked under Meghna Nautiyal, PT, at this outpatient clinic. There was a wide variety of patients treated here. The case load was about 50% adult cases involving orthopedics, pelvic health, and occasional neurologic conditions and about 50% pediatric cases involving toritcollis, developmental delays, adolescent athletes, and more. My responsibilities include evaluation, intervention, and documentation. I also at times had to direct PT technicians and frequently had to communicate/collaborate with other professionals in the clinic to provide holistic care.I provided an inservice on evidence-based interventions for children with Cerebral Palsy.
