  I volunteered in a small village in the heart of Zanzibar for 2 weeks, teaching 4-17 year old kids. I taught a variety of subjects mainly focusing on English. I implemented my ideas for better techniques to get the best out of the children. I worked in a team with the teachers, which improved my team work skills due to the language barrier, which highlighted the importance of communication. I lead a variety of classes e.g) Art and crafts/English, this provided me with leadership skills. This was a life-changing experience, making me appreciative of my surroundings everyday with mindful awareness to relate to my day to day life. Show less

  Worked in the European Stem Cell Research Institute ( ESCRI) for one year between my 2nd and 3rd year of my undergraduate degree in Cardiff. Worked on the effect of DNA methylation and Mbd2 on colorectal cancer exploring the roles of the gene. I carried out triple staining immunohistochemistry, PCRS and genotyping. Working alongside PhD and post-doctoral researchers has developed my awareness of alternative techniques as I was shadowing them in many situations.
