  I started at Cheetham Allen in April 1997 without any accounting background. Completing my AAT in 1999 and then progressing to study for Certified qualifications, with exemptions at the first level. I became ACCA qualified in April 2003. My work experience at Cheetham Allen started with bookkeeping of incomplete records for sole traders, Partnerships, Limited companies and moved through to planning and performing the audits of some of their biggest clients. My development through the ranks at Cheetham Allen gave me a good grounding for any career in any accounts based environment. Show less

  My main role at Sadofskys was to oversee the administration of my portfolio of clients. This involved liaising with clients, staff allocation and management, meeting statutory requirements and filing deadlines. Overseeing the work of less senior members of staff both directly or at job review stage, offering advice and training as necessary, preparing staff appraisals and providing input at periodic staff reviews. One off due diligence work on company purchases. Planning and performing audits, whilst taking consideration of time budgets. On the accounts preparation side of both audits and non-audits I was responsible for ensuring completeness up to draft accounts stage, including draft tax figures, for presentation to clients at meetings either by myself or by a partner of the firm. Use of Iris software for accounts production, tax work and time and fees management. Despite my managerial role I still found myself working upon sole traders, partnerships, exempt limited companies, preparing VAT returns, P35 and P14 preparation and even attending stock takes.   I followed partner Nick King from Sadofskys to the expanded Yorkshire Accountancy, where my role incorporates many of the duties undertaken previously. Due to wider services offered to our clients I spent a good deal of my time outsourced to clients as group/financial accountant. Typical work involving producing monthly management accounts, maintaining accounting systems, overseeing the work of other members of the finance team, banking transactions and wages. Latterly I have been office based managing the increasing number of staff as the business expands, staffing having doubled in the three years I have been there. Show less

  Lead manager at ESR Accountancy since its inception, I oversee the management of all clients in my office based role. My core aim is to make sure clients make their statutory filing requirements for accounts, especially under the new reporting principles, and across a range of taxes. Of late this has been performed alongside management of Workplace Pensions and the on going transitional requirements of Making Tax Digital.
