As part of a small team with a number of clients I had to prioritise tasks to provide a professional, efficient service.I often worked closely with clients, communicating technical considerations to non-technical people, understanding their requirements and expectations and liaising with facilities management to ensure that these were met.My role included supporting Avid video editing systems, desktop IT and professional video equipment.   Broadcast systems engineer

  I worked in BBC Television's London MCR ensuring bookings for News, Sports, Studios and Outside Broadcast programmes were successfully completed. This included HD, SD, ASI, Video over IP and Audio over IP signals and processing in both the digital and analog domain. The role included setting up satellite downlinks and uplinks and managing space segments for ad-hoc services and maintaining very high availability of fixed satellite services, including direct-to-home transmissions.Having become specialised in the remote operation of the BBC Scotland MCR when it was moved to London I was responsible for training other staff in the area on the operation. I was involved in the planning and implementation of major events including the BBCs coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the BBC Scotlands coverage of the 2010 UK General Election.During my time in this role I developed a detailed knowledge of large, complex, broadcast systems, reacting quickly to faults and identifying and implementing improvements to the systems.Before progressing to the MCR role I undertook a Graduate training scheme which included a number of BBC Engineering courses and 6 month placements leading to BBC Qualified Engineer Status. Migrated 120 broadcast services to new handoff points while maintaining Tier 1 SLAs.- Playout Migration - Acted as Lead Engineer for cutover of 41 services to 18 affiliate handoffs during the migration of Disney EMEA services to a new playout/automation platform. Performed cutovers with affiliates and ensured services operated without interruption (including video, audio, teletext subtitles, DVB subtitles and opt-cues).- New Channel Launches - Lead Engineer for distribution during new channel launches and service provider migrations for multiple Tier 1 broadcast clients.- Building Migration - Assisted with integration of systems/services being migrated from a company being acquired to existing Encompass systems and live migrated dark fibre circuits carrying over 20 uncompressed TV services to Sky/Freeview.
