  Leading a technical team to aid and advise in the migration of Washington Data Centre to Wynyard Data Centre – this encompassed the migration of over 2,500 multi-vendor servers and peripherals into a strategically sound green field Data Centre. Working to extremely tight deadlines the team had to migrate all servers within a 10 month window which entailed round the clock support else incur a $7 million penalty. We had to safeguard the $300 million HP data centre investment which included the DWP Hosting contract until 2015. Our programme spend was approx. $22 million purchasing of servers, network solution etc. Show less Providing and managing a solution to migrate the data held on the aging AIX Northern Ireland DACS system to a new system based in Doxford Park Data Centre. There were several challenges to overcome, the upgrading of such a system and with numerous interfaces such as telephony, print centres together with the operating system upgrade, filesystem changes, correct secure file transfer procedures were part of this challenge. I had to provide and present my options before my peers and the account client before deciding on the migration path.   Being the project manager responsible to deliver the infrastructure for HP’s Electronic Cloud Solution for the UK Public Sector within the North East. This modular roll out is occurring globally to cater for many of HP’s Cloud clients and has been put in place so that no matter where you are standing throughout the world the infrastructure held within designated racks will be exactly the same. This aids in the rollout of the infrastructure but communication is key to help diagnose problems and report them so that the senior management can update the design prior to rollout in another location. Managing physical servers together with security appliances (firewalls, HIPS, load balancers) from procurement and installation of the hardware. Up to the Level 3 build, using HP Server Automation and adhering to the network and security architecture. Show less Being responsible to deliver the Test and Production infrastructure for HP’s first Cloud and Tooling Programme of work for the DWP. This included implementing over 120 physical servers and countless virtual servers together with security boundaries that segregate Impact Level zones. My role was from procurement to the installation of the hardware and through to the final software build. The delivery was on time and on budget using the Agile Methodology which uses daily Kanban boards and a modular implementation. Show less
