The goal of the study was to gather and analyze women’s self-reports of their Internet and social media use, to answer three guiding research questions, through a combination of surveys and interviews with 15 women. Using open coding and themes for uses of social media identified by Whiting and Williams (2013) thematic analysis was used to help indicate the meanings participants have of their use of the Internet/social media in their health, resulting in the emergence of four themes, and providing a preliminary look into how social media content has the potential to encourage and motivate women to make healthy choices.
