  Dissertation investigated foundations for rail electrification projects with particular emphasis on piling. The research presented a possible solution for standardisation in piling and challenged the perception that piling is more costly than installation of concrete foundations. The research investigated current piling and ground investigation methods and theory to identify which methods are most efficient, cost effective and produce results that meet quality requirements.

  This work involved reviewing the engineering and construction process currently usedwithin the company and to make proposals as to how these processes could beimproved. Within the placement I achieved the objects setand compiled a draft manual that provided a best practice methodology for theengineering and construction process for the pile foundations.
