  Have you ever wanted to do something back for our planet for once? As an avid diver, I've always had a passion for the underwater world so I started looking for a suitable project to combine those two things. I got in touch with Barefoot Conservation, a community-based marine conservation volunteering project on a tiny spec in the Raja Ampat archipelago in a remote corner of Indonesia, the world's epicenter of marine biodiversity. Typically our days were spent doing survey dives to monitor the health of the coral reefs, removing invasive species that endanger the reef, taking ID-shots of manta rays and also teaching English to the kids in the local community and those of surrounding islands when we weren't diving. I also used the three months that I spent there to get certified as a PADI Divemaster.The remaining four months I spent traveling over other parts of Southeast Asia. This trip has been one of the most rewarding things I've ever done and has thought me a great deal of life experience, gave me new perspectives and the boldness to leave the security of your regular life behind in pursuit of new experiences.
