      As a research assistant for the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer (EPIC) cohort study hosted by the University of Cambridge my main duties included:- Delivering Informed consent and following procedures in line with good clinical practice (GCP).- Taking anthropometric measurements of study participants.- Assessing respiratory function of participants.- Testing physical performance measures.- Recording 7-day physical activity patterns using actilife software and GPS data- Performing x-ray scans using an iDEXA to identify low bone mineral density often associated with ageing process.- Identifying potential abnormalities in results of scan.- Assisting in administrative duties- Training new staff in the various technical elements of appointments.       - Working as part of the Manchester Urban Collaboration on Health (MUCH) evaluation team responsible for evaluating Well North, a £10m Public Health England-funded programme aimed at reducing health inequalities in the north of England.- Was the lead evaluator for 6 pathfinder areas (Bradford, Doncaster, Oldham, Rotherham, Sheffield and Whitehaven) and led on monitoring and evaluation activities and research design. - Also worked within the wider evaluation team to conduct a process evaluation of the Well North programme using realist methods.- Research and evaluation activities completed within pathfinder areas mainly focused on the impact of various community-based activities and interventions.- Skills gained in each of the following evaluation and research methodologies: rapid cycle evaluation; realist evaluation; appreciative inquiry; qualitative and quantitative data collection & analysis; social network analysis; grounded theory; focus groups & interviews; participant observation and ethnography; survey development and testing, piloting, validating; literature searching and systematic reviews; economic evaluation, photoelicitation - Built strong relationships with partners in local authorities, charities, social enterprises and community organisations to measure impact.       - Supporting standing voice with research, monitoring, evaluation and learning activities for their skin cancer prevention programme and teacher training programme across Tanzania and Malawi- Produced a framework analysis of interviews undertaken with people with albinism (PWA) in Tanzania who attended Skin Cancer clinics- The findings from this research helped to increase the organisations understanding of the experiences of PWA in Tanzania- The findings were used to design a specific programme for parents (particularly mothers) of children with albinism (CWA) (such was the unique experience of women who were caring for CWA). Findings were also used to inform a teacher training program aimed at increasing teachers ability to support the needs of PWA at school- Cleaning, wrangling and analysing quantitative data, contributing to donor reports- Analysing qualitative data and making recommendations in response to needs of PWA during Covid-19- Providing qualitative data analysis training to staff in Tanzania to be used for needs assessment of PWA during Covid - 19 pandemic- Involved in the design and data analysis of focus groups with PWA for a Welcome Trust-funded research project titled 'Understanding Albinism and Skin Cancer in Tanzania'. Through creative patient engagement workshops, the work aims to increase agency and understanding of albinism among PWA to better advocate for their own health and the health of other PWA as well as increase adherence to skin protection measures.- Providing strategic advice to managers around the M&E of SV programmes.
