  5th Gear Consulting is a Lender Service Provider (LSP) that assists lenders with processing, closing & servicing SBA loans. My role as a 7a Loan Specialist allowed me to develop a "start to finish" understanding of the 7(a) loan program. I worked closely with lenders to determine SBA eligibility and loan structure to help ensure the guarantee. I developed a strong understanding of credit underwriting, specifically in cash-flow based analysis and in relation to SBA credit underwriting guidelines. Additional duties included working with lenders and borrowers to complete the loan package, "build" the 7(a) ten tab, submit loans using eTran & SBAOne, requesting loan modifications, creating application and closing documents, 1502 reporting, maintaining the authorization and liquidation.   Senior Loan Advisor

  As the Senior Loan Advisor I help guide financial advisors through the loan process, from the initial consultation to the closing table. That process begins by determining the advisor's lending needs and then establish if we have a good fit with our loan programs. I like to provide a consultative approach to navigating the loan process, which without expert help, can be a difficult undertaking. I'll set realistic expectations early in the process to provide us a gauge for our efforts and timeline. Setting expectations early also tends to reduce surprises late in the process, which cause frustration for everyone involved. Throughout the process, I strive to be responsive to client needs and remain available to provide answers and updates. Additionally, I work closely with the advisor to collect the loan documentation and financials needed for the loan package. It's through this process that I prepare the credit analysis and credit presentation. By the end of the process, I will have established a strong understanding of an advisor's practice, and hopefully grasp the long-term goals for the advisor. Show less
