  During my internship period at the Human Biology department (Maastricht University), I assisted an in vitro project in which we looked at the best conditions (e.g. various differentiation days, different incubation times and different phenylalanine concentrations in differentiation medium) for growth and differentiation of C2C12 myoblasts to eventually measure protein synthesis and breakdown by means of scintillation detection.   During my internship at the Maastricht University Campus Venlo, I helped out with the Actiful2 project. Besides helping out with the clinical trial (i.e. recruiting participants, conducting the various visits and test days with human subjects), I also ran my own in vitro project, in which I looked at the effect of active components from oranges and pomegranates (i.e. hesperetin, ellagic acid, Urolithin A and Urolithin B) on muscle creatine kinase activity in C2C12 myotubes by means of spectrophotometric assessments.
