  Network Operation Center Technician

  This position at Kohl’s was to proactively monitor their entire network. Within a year and a half, I was considered the lead technician for the group. This included all 1300+ stores as well as all their Distribution centers, Corporate HQ and other remote locations. I worked with both Nortel router and switches and Cisco routers and switches. I also took care of their wireless (Cisco and Motorola) controllers and APs at all locations. I also participated in network related projects. I also created and modified custom made tools to help with proactive monitoring and projects. I also trained new employees that would come in for new projects or if there was an opening in the group. I took the lead in trying out new equipment that was looked at for possible deployment. I also tested possible What-If scenarios for new deployments that were not already addressed. Worked with HP servers and VMware’s vSphere to get store servers up and working. I also create and edit documentation on all troubleshooting that should be done to determine the issue.   I worked at Kohl’s to continue to support the equipment in the stores that include items like the ESL system from NCR, eSigns from Altierre, gift registry’s, kiosks, etc. I work with the store to troubleshoot to try to get more information or to correct an issue. If it could not be corrected, would get it sent out for repair to either get the part and tech sent to the store from the vendor of choice. Work with our Tier 3 in cases where all troubleshooting has been exhausted and cannot be corrected.
