  Vacation Work - Waste Audit Officer

  I was employed as a Waste Audit Officer for a two-week vacation period in February of 2010 and 2011. During these periods it was my responsibility to conduct audits of the composition of waste and recycling in 150-200kg urban truck loads. I worked with six other people and complied with council OH&S requirements by performing manual labour safely and wearing appropriate PPE items. During the work experience period I obtained an understanding of the 7 types of plastics.

  I was engaged as a work experience Environmental Officer at Queensland Transport and Main Roads (QTMR) between February and November this year. My attendance varied with my academic and paid work schedules however from June to November I attended an average of two days per week. My tasks during work experience included - accompanying departmental officers on site inspections related to customer enquiries, construction projects and corridor management issues - an Environmental Scoping Report for a Safer Roads Sooner project- a review of a contractor's construction Environmental Management Plan- receiving and actioning (writing professional reports) for Customer Feedback Responses (CFR's)- conducted an assessment of a CFR and produced a professional report recommending an action.- catalogue plants samples into 'field guides'I was able to perform most of these tasks with minimal guidance. I was a diligent and enthusiastic volunteer on all occasions, and I received positive feedback from the other team members about my attitude and performance. Show less
