Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with the specifications, drawings, and standards; focusing on safety, quality, and damage prevention. Initiate actions to prevent, stop, or correct quality control deficiencies and defective work. Oversee horizontal directional drilling, open cut excavation, and fusing of plastic pipe. Conduct fusion inspections on gas mains ranging from 1” to 18” diameter as well as steel gas main installation. Review and adjust as-built drawings in coordination with the Contractor. Resolve Contractor conflicts in the field, including conflicts and concerns with City of Chicago residents.
