      New Kelani Bridge project over Kelani River Phase 1 Joint venture - JMT, Subcontractor - Sierra and Sanken(phase 2) MBP-3R Pile cap (8*5*3m) with 6 piles of diameter 1500mm.•SITE:- Excavation of coffer dam to place first and second wale beam and dewatering simultaneously.- Placing ABC of 200mm and Lean concrete of 100mm.- Pile hacking to the required level to place pile cap reinforcement (100mm above lean concrete).- Placing of bottom and top reinforcement of pile cap. - Preparation of required formwork materials - Concreting of pile cap of volume 120m3- Deshuttering of formwork after few days of concrete(eg: removing d-cone).- Surface treatment of the pile cap by filling up d-cones and smoothing the surface with concrete grinder.- Backfilling between pile cap and sheet pile using ABC and removing water from anchor bolts for grouting.•LABORATORY:- Learned how to do moisture content test, proctor compaction test, specific gravity test on soils and ABC.- Compaction test at site after backfilling for ABC (should be 95% or more).- Bitumen extraction test in asphalt.- Slump test, concrete cube compaction test and cube crushing for compressive strength for concrete.- Helping lab technicians to do filing and tabulating on MS Excel for the test carried out in lab and site.
