      I developed a comprehensive Directory of Mental Health Services for Staten Island, to be used by consumers, family members and mental health professionals. I also provided advocacy for those with mental health issues who were in need of treatment, government benefits, employment, social connections and/or housing.

I spearheaded the grassroots effort of family members to open this program which is based on Fountain House (the clubhouse model of psychosocial supports). All efforts, both on-site and in job placements, are designed to increase confidence and independent, while facilitating community connections in the process.

      Directed psychiatric rehabilitation program serving adults with serious mental illness. Program involved securing appropriate employment opportunities in the community for individual or group placement and providing supports and training on and off-site as needed, with the goals of increased confidence, competence and independence. Maintaining a safe, healthy and engaging community environment at the center was essential for developing meaningful relationships, addressing interpersonal challenges, and providing meaningful activities to become involved in.       Helped to develop and administer innovative psychoeducational resources based on a natural approach to mental wellness, with roots in Japanese Psychology, specifically Morita Therapy and Naikan. Programs include 7 online formats with varying themes, as well as a Residential Certification Program and an intensive Naikan Self-Reflection retreat. Applied relevant principles to the theme of intentional eating through the annual 30-day program, Solving the Food Koan.Original essays and instructional articles about applying Japanese Psychology to everyday life regularly appear in the ToDo Institute's publication, Thirty Thousand Days: A Journal for Purposeful Living. Weekly messages, inspired and informed by Japanese Psychology, are distributed to members of the ToDo Institute as well as the general public. Individual consultations are provided for those who want to learn about the principles of Japanese Psychology and understand the relevance of this work to their own unique challenges and goals.
