  As a Research Assistant in the Greenhouse Crop Pathology and Integrated Pest Management Lab with Dr. Genevieve Marchand, I assisted in the management of a variety of projects. Halfway through my term, the Lab Technician who was directly supervising my work retired. This gave me a great deal of independence in setting my daily schedule and led to many opportunities where I took initiative to troubleshoot problems and raise concerns to Dr. Marchand.In this role, I was tasked with:- Managing the upkeep on four separate greenhouses and five projects. - Keeping organized and concise records of plant growth, disease progression, and greenhouse measurements.- Training a Lab Technician during the final week of my position on my daily tasks and the necessary steps to manage the greenhouse plants.   As a Lab Technician at Health Canada, I worked in the Food Virology Lab with Dr. Neda Nasheri. The research question I was tasked with was: how does treating pork pate with varying concentrations of citric acid and acetic acid impact the viral titer of Hepatitis E? In this role, I:- Carried out experiments accurately and with minimal supervision.- Analyzed the data for trends and compiled a final report.- Looked for initiative in assisting with other research projects.
