  Majnoon was the first project to add new oil processing facilities in Iraq for 30 years. Development of the Majnoon oil field involved the drilling of new wells, the construction of a green field central processing facility and the revamping of brown field installations. Shell was awarded a joint license to develop Majnoon in 2009 and finished operations in 2018.Achievements;•Communicating responsibly and effectively with a team of multicultural operators to receive necessary information for the completion of tasks and build a trustworthy environment •Testing wells in the Majnoon oil field for well integrity by running a safety integrity test and ensuring that there was a reduced risk of uncontrolled release of formation fluids throughout the well’s life cycle. •Checking and authorizing the completion of permits and certifications prior to issue to confirm that all the necessary signatures had been obtained and informing the IA and AA of any potential issues.•Coaching and assessing new Iraqi graduates and local nationals to high standards by emphasizing the importance of process integrity in training and assessing graduates in the field and control room to assist their examinations.•Commissioning Wells, including the first Wells and Well Pads at the Majnoon oil field, to test their functioning and capabilities according to design specifications and verify before producing oil and gas.•Writing, checking and rewriting HSSE procedures and standards to regulate ethical practice on site. •Pressure testing of process equipment.•Writing, checking and rewriting procedures.
