    • B&D Building and Remodeling

      Nov 2010 - Feb 2012
      Design Assistant

In my position at B&D Building and Remodeling, I was responsible for providing graphic understanding and design solutions for residential and commercial projects. I often reviewed Construction Documents in order to perform cost estimates and coordinated with sub-contractors to accomplish the scope of work. For smaller remodeling and renovation projects, I drafted up architectural drawings in AutoCAD and utilized SketchUp models to help clients visualize proposals. Material takeoffs and detail drawings saved the company time and money, in addition to reducing sub-contractor errors. I would regularly go on site visits, attend initial client consultations, and participate in routine company progress meetings. I performed various administrative tasks to help keep the office operating and organized. My role also required correspondence with manufacturers and distributors to request cut sheets, place product orders, and resolve mistakes. Show less

      Feb 2012 - Mar 2013
      Intern Architect

At CBT Architects I worked primarily on high-rise residential projects. My main focus was to assist my team in maintaining project momentum through the phases of the architectural design process. Regular tasks included updating design schemes in SketchUp, AutoCAD and Revit, producing presentation materials using the Adobe Creative Suite, developing physical models through laser and foam cutting, and performing code and material analyses. I was actively involved in public process and client meetings. I also amassed construction administration experience and went on site visits. Show less

    • Shepley Bulfinch (Shepley Bulfinch Richardson & Abbott)

      May 2013 - Jan 2017

As a member of various architectural project teams, I assisted with architectural design development and document production. I specialized in Revit model setup, support, maintenance, and sophisticated modeling objectives. Over time I was tasked on projects of increasing complexity that required around-the-clock model supervision and regularly utilized the Dynamo add-in for Revit to automate routine production tasks, extract performance metrics, and execute precision model operations. Project typologies included: healthcare, laboratory, academic, and residential mixed-use development. Show less This role at Shepley Bulfinch was a hybrid of technology and architecture. I provided support, training, and development of new and existing technology for the practice. My focus was primarily on production software: Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe CS6 and Office 2010. I also facilitated the firm’s digital fabrication and visualization efforts. In addition, I helped support the hardware and other back end systems required to run the business, had helpdesk responsibilities, and contributed to high levels of customer service in IT. Show less

DME2072 - ADVANCED REVIT & COMPUTATIONAL WORKFLOWS:This course focuses on treating BIM as a tool for design and production. An overview of the Revit API and beginner programming concepts provides students with a deeper understanding of how the platform functions. A core portion of the course is devoted to the Dynamo visual programming add-in for Revit and its ability to optimize the import and export of data and geometry. We explain how to view Revit as a repository for information that can be used to manipulate and verify project information. Use cases for software interoperability demonstrate workflows such as populating a project with early form and program information or using a model for energy analysis.Formerly co-taught with Peter Atwood: https://www.linkedin.com/in/peteratwood/Formerly co-taught with Jamie Farrell: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jamiebigdatafarrellDME2013 - DIGITAL FABRICATION WORKFLOWSThis class will investigate different aspects of Digital Fabrication and its relationship to the field of architecture through four key projects; Model making and representation, automation of existing and new construction methods and finally, new architectural typologies dependent on digital fabrication. Each of the three projects will result in a physical manifestation utilizing either 3D printing, Laser Cutting, or CNC. In parallel class dialogues about the theoretical, historical, contemporary, and predicted future of the relationship between architecture and Digital Fabrication will occur each meeting time in addition to in-class demos and reviews of projects. Overall as a class, we will seek to answer the questions, how do architects use digital fabrication and why should architects use digital fabrication.Formerly co-taught with Lilit Revazian: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lilitrevazian/Formerly co-taught with Peter Atwood: https://www.linkedin.com/in/peteratwood/ Show less

      Virtual Design & Construction Specialist

As a Virtual Design and Construction Specialist it was my responsibility to support project teams prior to and during construction by collaborating with all project partners – Owners, Architects, Civil, Structural and MEP Engineers, and Trade Contractors. Visualizing and communicating items clearly was critical to ensure design intent was properly executed to its fullest extent, preserve budget and enhance schedule by identifying and resolving constructibility issues before they surface in the field (where they are more costly), and look for new tools/workflows to better connect designers and builders. My prior architecture experience and familiarity with producing drawing sets allowed me to quickly navigate the documents to find things commonly missed, undervalued, or not allotted sufficient time to complete. Using my visual programming proficiency – specifically the Dynamo add-in for Revit – I dissected BIM models with much more precision and efficiency than previous methods. Furthermore, I was able to adapt existing and develop new workflows to better facilitate the estimating, design validation, and coordination processes. Show less
