    • Memorial Hospital of Martinsville & Henry County

      Public Relations Coordinator

Managed the communications efforts for this 264-bed hospital. I was also the hospital spokesperson to the media and was fortunate to be asked to write a weekly health column for the Martinsville Bulletin that landed on the Health and Fitness page every Wednesday, lasting for four years. So, in short, I wrote 200 columns in that time period about ways to live a healthier life. Called "Healthy Living," the column gave me a glimpse into how much the public craved education about health. I was getting stopped by people in Walmart and the gym -- commenting on a recent column they read. It was the basis for my inspiration to get an MPH degree at UNCG and begin learning how to influence people to find their own solutions for their health. Show less
