      Studied chemistry on a 4-year thick sandwich course to attain a BSc (Hons) in Applied Chemistry. Worked for the MoD for my 3rd year, and did a research project sponsored by Pfizer Research on heterocylic pyrridinium ylides.

      During this period, Berger Paints were part of the global Hoechst Group and manufactured industrial and automotive coatings. I joined as a graduate and spent 2 years developing formulation and application skills, then joined the industrial coatings department where I developed new coating systems for structural steel work. This included • Training fabricators to spray new products• Scaling lab scale formulations for factory production and overseeing initial batches• Providing technical solutions to applicators using our products• Supplying technical coating specifications to customers• Travelling to sites to inspect coating application quality and providing compliance reports• Investigating faults and providing technical expertise for claims cases Exibir menos

      Experience gained• Delivered an OD consultancy project analysing a performance improvement initiative for the division. Recommended an alternative approach based on continuous improvement aimed at building a "culture of quality". The exec board implemented my proposal and I received a letter from them praising my work.• Played a key role in the implementation of a major cultural change for the Technical Centre, to successfully produce a high performance mind-set; remove siloes and create one division; • Managed a team of 10 technical experts ranging from 2-30 years’ experience. Reporting to the HR Director, I led organisational development across the business partnering with the wider HR community and leading a team of 3 direct reports and a budget of £4.5 million.Experience • Delivered learning needs analysis for 100 middle managers leading to the creation of a management development programme, engaging world class suppliers to deliver master classes on key areas. The evaluation report delivered on programme completion lead to a new senior leadership programme focused on transformational leadership skills development. • Managed a project team to roll-out a competency framework and assessment process to 2,000 staff in the UK, including designing and delivering train-the-trainer materials to local HR teams to enable them to carry the process forwards.• Implemented a structured annual review to deliver succession planning and identify high potential employees.• Built a coaching culture and equipped managers with people development skills and to value staff development as a managerial priority.• Worked with external experts to develop and implement a sophisticated assessment centre that evaluated current skill levels for the sales function and provided a gap analysis based on future needs. This provided data for placing the right people in the right roles as well as development needs for each individual.
