      May 2011 - Aug 2014
      Landscape Designer

Under employment with Greenworks, I worked as the Landscape Designer on a case-by-case basis. I believe we succeeded from personable interactions with clients derived from a genuine passion for the industry. I worked with a high-end clientele to design landscapes based on permaculture design principles to harmoniously blend natives with edibles, trees, hardscapes and retaining walls as new installs or landscape updates. I designed around budgets and goals and selected plants for specific use, purpose, disease and pest resistance, climate tolerance, and aesthetics. Show less

      Plant Merchandizer

Assist customers with questions regarding herbaceous and woody annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs such as climate restrictions, site restrictions, color, size, texture, scent, function, and beneficial properties. I was directly responsible for the overall health of the nursery stock and would cull, and organize as need by. I assisted with plant orders, kept binders updated, and served as an informational resource for fellow workers.

      Lead Gardener

While surrounded by employees well versed in the horticulture industry, I was able to absorb many valuable field strategies and practices, grow my plant I.D, gain knowledge of pesticide use and effectiveness, improve customer relation adeptness, and further continue my team-effort attitude towards a positive work environment. The position held involved direct responsibility for the overall landscape maintenance of 50+ properties, annual and perennial container and bed design, and supervising multiple gardener helpers. All while maintaining client satisfaction through communication and superior attention to detail. Show less

      Lead Gardener/Assistant Landscape Designer

As the Lead Gardener and Design Assistant I play two roles in the overall success of the company. I am in charge of meeting with prospective clients to perform initial consultations regarding design needs/goals, generate designs, establish relationships, source plant material and follow up with clients, while I also work with fellow gardeners to lead the installation and maintenance crews. This dual position has greatly helped my design abilities because of the close work with multiple genera of plants; to study on a daily basis where plants thrive is indispensable knowledge to a designer. I enjoy incorporating multifunctional plants to replenish the soil, bring in wanted wildlife (while deterring others with aromatic pest confuser), add color, texture, shade, and food! Choosing plants for clients’ specific needs and meeting that goal is something I greatly delight in and I feel my large plant i.d knowledge is one of my strongest attributes. Show less
