The Department of Social Services and Gender deals with social issues ranging from Civic Education, Health and Sanitation, Gender Empowerment, Community Mobilization and Registration and Education of self-help groups and community based organizations.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuring this period, I worked under the guidance of Assistant Director Social Services and Community Development Officers in charge of different areas who were willing to guide me in my assigned duties. Other duties and Responsibilities included but not limited to:  Community mobilization for various County Government meetings and projects (public participation meetings) in liaison with already established local administration officers (chiefs, sub chiefs). Community surveys on what are the needs of the community and the impact of government projects on the communities. Worked as a data collector for Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Programme (May 2016) and the Manyatta-Arab title deed issuance Programme. Information relayed to the county and national government for consideration in fiscal planning. Registration and education of self-help groups and community based organization.  Health and sanitation programmes on the need for proper hygiene and sanitation and its relation with good health. Conflict resolution involved resolving issues raised by various groups and general public.  Report Writing involved writing and compiling reports on all official programmes undertaken and appropriate documentation for future reference. Counselling done during group meetings, attending to juvenile children and counselling them accordingly, taking the sick and HIV victims for medication and adherence meetings. General office management; ensure the office is in order, normal running of office duties, standing in for the Community Development Officer when absent and reporting to the Community Development Officer on matters arising.
