  Managed various federally funded grant programs and provided technical assistance to grantees around the state. Developed the grant proposal and reporting forms. Participated in developing content for the state-wide conference. Analyzed the implications of proposed legislation and reported those implications. Assisted in the writing of the state juvenile justice plan. Implemented and managed a state-wide federal grant program. I provided technical assistance and training to grantees, monitored the financial expenses, and reported outcomes of the project.

  I managed the team of educational and psychosocial support providers who worked with juveniles who were involved in juvenile drug court. I developed the criteria for admission to the drug court, what constituted failure and successful completion. I left the position due to the terminal illness of my father, who lived out of town and needed a full-time caregiver.

  I trained Tennessee Walking Horses and Spotted Saddle Horses. In discussions with the ranch owner after beginning the position, I recognized that the business plan was not sustainable. My father's estate was not settled and so I chose to return to Virginia, where I worked as a consultant and horse trainer while completing the settlement of his estate.
