  As an apprentice I studied towards a level 2 NVQ in Process Operating within the Chemical Industry and a City and Guilds level 2 Diploma in Process Technology. I also completed functional skills English, Maths and ICT. Alongside my studies I was, working full time on the plant, learning practical skills from experienced process technicians and shift team leaders.

  Chemical Process Technician

  As a chemical process technician on a top tier COMAH site I am in complete charge of running various plants/processes. Working in a batch production environment, ensuring products are manufactured efficiently and effectively, measured against production time, quality and batch yield. I work as part of a team to ensure that all tasks are carried out safely and effectively, following standard operating procedures impeccably.As a permit to work (PTW) issuer, issuing permits on a day to day basis. I am responsible for carrying out risk assessments and managing multiple contractors.Working on processes that include Phosgenation and Chlorination, it is vital that I fully understand the hazards related to such processes.My day to day tasks invlove:- Permit To Work issuing- Counter balanced Fork lift Truck driving- All aspects of plant operations (both field and DCS controlled from a control room)- Loading and unloading bulk tanks from road barrels. Including raw materials, finished products and waste streams - Analytical 'Quality Control' in process testing/sampling including : chromotography, density, conductivity, pH readings- Communicating with the Shift Team Leader and Shift Production Manager to ensure all production targets are met- Finished goods packing.
