  Dr. Krishnamoorthy Venkataraman has gained 37 years of research experience in faunal diversity studies by serving in Madurai Kamaraj University, Bombay Natural History Society and over 27 years at Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) in various capacities. He worked as Secretary in the National Biodiversity Authority Chennai from the day of its inception till 2009 as well as worked as Member Secretary of Loss of Ecology (Prevention and Compensation) Authority from 2007 to 2010. He was Director, Zoological Survey of India from 2010 to 2015. He served as Senior Scientific Consultant from 2015 to 2020 in National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management , Chennai. He has participated in 14th Indian Expedition to Antarctica organised by Government of India. Introduction of permanent monitoring plots to study the coral reef status in Andaman and Nicobar Islands laid by him is an approach first-of-its-kind in Indian reef studies. Show less
