  V-Mobile (now Airtel Nigeria), is one of the major telecoms companies in Nigeria. It was my first experience as an in house lawyer in a company and it was an eye opener. I was on a contract and when it ended, I decided to equip myself with more vast and insightful legal knowledge. Having an understanding that I had gained good knowledge and experience within the seemingly short time I was with the company. I was responsible for:• preparing and vetting contracts of sale, leases, licenses and similar documents covering sites acquired/ to be acquired by the company for use as cell sites/ base stations;• ensured that all legal formalities were complied with, with regards to purchases, leases and licenses, including regulatory permits and registration where necessary;• ensured that all such leases and licenses were valid and up-to-date and where applicable, renewed in advance of expiry dates;• Member of a team that managed the coordination of the Site Acquisition Process vis-à-vis with the Site Solicitors; complied with conditions stated in the cell site search report especially where the acceptance of such a report was dependent on that condition being fulfilled.• Managed and monitored all search requests and payment of sites thereby ensuring that the necessary documents were received by the SAQ Solicitors.• Member of a team to determine the suitability of sites, through the use of GPS.
