This role combined responsibilities in both GIS consultancy and technical pre-sales. It involved working closely with clients across a wide variety of industries including Argent LLP, National Grid and West Kent Housing Association on developing GIS solutions using a wide range of elements within the ArcGIS platform. I was involved in the end-to-end development of these solutions, which largely focused on ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Desktop and CityEngine. This included requirements gathering, data structuring and analysis, bespoke python data automation, integration into existing processes and visualisation. In addition I developed and ran bespoke training in CityEngine, visualisation and ArcGIS Online. The technical pre-sales aspect of my role involved maintaining a thorough understanding of the ArcGIS platform and identifying opportunities for how it could benefit our existing and new customers. The role focused on identifying the business needs of clients and finding appropriate technical solutions and then communicating to both business and technical audiences the benefits of the technology. In addition to my responsibilities as a GIS consultant, I was also the technical lead for Esri UK’s 3D technologies. This involved working with the development team in Esri Inc to feedback UK customers’ technical needs and thoroughly understand the new functionalities and architecture of the software and feed this back to the rest of the company. This role also involved exploring the business case for 3D GIS, working with clients to help develop proof of concepts and demonstrating 3D solutions at conferences including Esri UK Annual Conference.
