  Land Surveyor Assistant

  My first year working was in 2007, where I help assist the land surveyors in the field over the course of the summer. During the winter of 2009-2010, I also helped the land surveyors while giving aid to tasks in the office. From December 2009 to January 2010 I did part-time work. I learned the concepts of land surveying and can use instrumentation correctly. In the office, I saw many different engineering plans and have an understanding of the steps and goals in engineering projects. I have learned and mastered how to set up and level legs for a prism, find and set property corners, set traverse points, and do elevations. I have done and experienced many of these tasks out in the field and keep learning new material every day. This has given me a better understanding of the entire engineering aspect for many different types of projects. Show less

  I was asked to return to work during the 2011 work season. I was in charge of assembling plaques and trophies. This was a very hands-on task and all projects had to be correct, precise, and submitted on time. I learned the art very quickly and understood what was expected of me right from the start. I always got jobs done ahead of time. I am good with hands-on engagements and was very good and making trophies and plaques look professional. I took pride in making an exceptional final product.

  Highway Construction Supervisor

  I worked under the construction manager, Rod Waite, and have been getting a hands-on experience in organizing, scheduling, and completing heavy highway construction jobs. I spent the month of August during a mill/pave job on Route 1 in Edison, NJ doing night work. Here, I designed detour routes, calculated asphalt quantities, as well as managed on-site trucking.

  Assistant to civil engineering department technician, Aaron Nolan, and helped prepare, conduct, explain and lead laboratories to undergraduate classes. In charge of repairing and maintaining lab equipment as well as designing and constructing new laboratory apparatuses for testing and use.
