      Jan 2007 - Jan 2012
      Lawn Care Provider

This part-time-job was a way for me to earn some money while I was in High-School and my first year of college. I trimmed hedges, administered herbicide, used the weed eater, and mowed the grass for my employers, which included the Hardin County Bank and some of my neighbors.

    • University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service - Hardin County Branch

      May 2013 - Aug 2013
      Summer Intern

As an intern I did more than just answer phones and greet people who came into the U.T. Extension office (although I did do plenty of that, too.) I worked to promote the Hardin County 4-H Club by planning, filming, and editing a promotional video under the supervision of the full-time 4-H agents. I also served as a team leader and camp counselor at 4-H camp Ridley. The internship led to me doing a lot more than that, though. One of the more unusual job duties I had during the internship was when I worked sorting cattle during "roundup" day at the Hardin County Stockyard but I did not consider it "unusual" since I grew up on a family-run cattle farm. Another experience I had that most people might consider unusual was when I went out with one of the agents to plant test plots of experimental soybeans. There were quite a few more "unusual experiences" such as the time I spent at a kid's cooking camp or the time I shadowed an agent while he investigated some horses, but for the most part, the internship was an office job. Most of my days were spent in the office answering phone calls, filing, and performing other office duties. I learned several key office skills. I worked from May 20, 2013 until August 16, 2013. • Tennessee Street Park

      May 2014 - Sept 2015
      Park Staff

This job allowed me to hone my customer service skills. I sold food and drinks from a concession stand, enforced the rules of the park, kept the park clean by taking the trash out and cleaning bathrooms, and followed cash-handling procedures. I was also on the crew who worked to get the park ready for opening, during which time I mowed the grass, pulled weeds, and performed other tasks at the park before it opened in order to get it ready for the grand opening ceremony.

    • National Park Service

      May 2016 - Sept 2016
      Park Ranger (Visitor Services Assistant)

I had a variety of duties all centered around educating the public about our history. My favorite was when I got to lead an educational program a few times per week. I presented an interpretive talk discussing the first 100 years of U.S. History and how it relates to the Civil War, especially in regards to the 1862 Battle of Shiloh and the many wartime events which occurred in Corinth, Mississippi. The program culminated with a look at how these events formed the nation that we live in today. At the visitor center information desk, I greeted visitors, answered visitors' questions about the American Civil War, the Battle of Shiloh, the Siege of Corinth, the later Battle of Corinth, and items in the museum and on the grounds of the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center. I kept track of and recorded the number of visitors to the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center each day. I Maintained the supply of informational materials and other stock items such as maps of the park and the area surrounding the park, as well as informational materials explaining facts about the park and the area's local history. I explained regulations covering common park use situations, including rules and safeguards, and controlled vehicular traffic if and when necessary.I also performed some miscellaneous duties such as playing the park's informational film for guests and selling books and other items in the bookstore. • Discovery Park of America

      Nov 2016 - Jan 2017
      Discovery Guide

I assisted full-time employees and volunteers with educational programs and led school groups from place to place in the museum. I also participated in "Meet and Greets." This job was part-time and I was called in to work occasionally on an as-needed basis.

    • Tennessee College of Applied Technology Crump

      Jan 2017 - Sept 2017
      Recruiter / Admissions Counselor

The Admissions Counselor/Recruiter position was really two different jobs combined into one. As an Admissions Counselor, I helped prospective students decide if TCAT was right for them or not. I helped them decide what classes they might want to take in order to prepare them for the career they wanted to pursue. The best way to counsel them was through in-person meetings. However, since students were recruited from six different counties, sometimes counseling activities had to be done via email or phone. I also led tours of the campus, conducted new student orientations, planned events, and handled general office duties. Collecting, managing, and filing student information while maintaining contact with potential students was a daily pursuit. I communicated with them using postal mail, emails, phone calls, in-person-meetings, and text messages depending on their preferred method of correspondence. As a Recruiter, my primary duty was to find people who might want to attend the college and then convince them to enroll. I was expected to recruit students from six Tennessee counties. Sometimes this meant creating and managing advertisements to promote the school through various forms of mass media including radio spots, newspaper advertisements, and a video-advertisement which played at a local theater before films began. I made frequent appearances at local college/career fairs to promote TCAT. I regularly attended meetings at high schools to recruit new students. During these meetings I delivered speeches about the college for prospective students and their families. Afterwards I answered questions from audience members. Upon returning to my office after one of these meetings, my role shifted from Recruiter to Admissions Counselor, meaning that making and answering phone calls, emails, and letters from other employees, current students, and potential students was my job until I went on the road to be a Recruiter once again. I was hired to work with their Land Surveying Crews in 2018.Through my work with F and M Consulting, I have taken part in Boundary Surveys, Flood Certificates, Construction Site Layout, and Topographic Surveys among other duties. • U.S. Census Bureau

      Aug 2020 - Oct 2020
      Enumerator

This job has allowed me to practice my skills in Conflict Resolution, Public Service, Customer Service, Conversation, Public Speaking, Education, and Public Relations. Walking up to someone's door, introducing yourself, explaining your purpose in seeking the person out, and then convincing them to use their free time to fill out a survey or answer some questions requires all those skills and a few more. I am grateful that I had such a wonderful opportunity to practice those skills while also helping my community and my country complete an important task. I was very happy to be part of the 2020 N.R.F.U. operations with the United States Census Bureau and I legitimately enjoyed my work. Show less

    • Xtend Healthcare, LLC

      Mar 2021 - Jan 2022

I started working as a Contact Tracing Representative on January 19th, 2021 and I started serving as a "Battle Buddy" on September 30th, 2021. A "Battle Buddy is an agent who instructs and helps other Contact Tracing Agents when they need assistance in addition to performing their normal duties and tasks. As a "Battle-Buddy," I got to teach agents how to avoid the mistakes that had been holding them back and review any information or any processes they may have forgotten. I also helped them troubleshoot minor technical problems (when they were minor enough for me to understand them) and offered live assistance when they were having trouble conducting an interview or having some other problem on a call via live-chat or Microsoft Teams. My favorite part of being a "Battle Buddy" is getting to teach the other agents how to avoid making the mistakes that hold them back from reaching their full potential after helping them identify any errors they might be making.I worked on the TN Contact Tracing Campaign from January 19th - March 12th and then worked on the Shelby County Vaccination Campaign from March 12th to July 26th. Then from July 26th to January 31st, 2022, I worked on the TN Contact Tracing Campaign again. I started serving as a "Battle Buddy" on 9-30-2021. A "Battle Buddy is an agent who helps other agents when neededThe State of TN ended the contract with Xtend Healthcare on January 31st, 2022. Show less Contact Tracing was done by Xtend healthcare agents like myself on behalf of the Tennessee Department of Health. As a Contact Tracing Representative, I would talk to patients who had an active case of Covid-19 through outbound and inbound calls in order to do an interview with them to collect key information about the places they had been to and the people they had been around while they were contagious. The interviews usually took between 10 or 15 minutes but many lasted longer than that, especially if the patient had a lot of information to share. Asking the right questions and learning how to lead the person down the right conversational path was absolutely essential in that job. The ability to explain CDC and TNDOH guidelines to confused patients was equally important, and the ability to de-escalate angry callers was very important, too, since an agent was likely to encounter at least one angry caller every day. Overall, I really enjoyed the job because I knew the information I was collecting was going to be used to learn more about Covid-19 and slow or stop the spread of that virus.I worked on the TN Contact Tracing Campaign from January 19th - March 12th and then worked on the Shelby County Vaccination Campaign from March 12th to July 26th.
