      Firefighter

I operated as an airfield & structural firefighter, providing 24/7 cover of military airfields on a 2 minute response time to any emergencies and other airfield related issues. Over my career I was stationed from RAF Northolt (Middlesex) twice working with the Royal Flight and RAF Coningsby (Lincolnshire) with squadrons tasked emergency response for the protection of UK airspace and also the Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight. I was deployed regularly around the UK and worldwide including places such as Afghanistan and the Falkland Islands. I have also working on several occasions covering MOD Contractor Fire strikes and Local Authority Strikes. I was also part of a response team which required me be on 3 days notice to move standby to be deployed anywhere around the world should the need arise. Along with providing emergency response my other day to day tasks would include vehicle and essential equipment maintenance. Fire Safe training for other RAF and civilian personnel. Assisting with medical emergencies and patient transport. Regular training towards the 30 hours training required per month. Also I would require to keep my military based training current including weapons handling, force protection and medical. Show less
