      Through this position, I have been able to develop my organizational leadership skills when it comes to running participants, engaging in weekly lab meetings, and collecting data in an ethical and unbiased way. I hope to pursue additional research endeavors in the future! I have been able to assist students with not just learning the material but using metacognition to better retain the information. I have been able to increase my knowledge of introductory biology through leading office hours focusing on collaboration and teamwork.

      As a food server, I was able to attend to the residents of Brightview during their meals. This included residents in independent living, assisted living, and residents who have dementia. I worked with a team of servers as I became a part of this senior living community and learned more about the geriatric population through this position!

      As a recreation assistant, I was able to plan and participate in fun events and activities for the residents such as fitness classes and karaoke nights. I worked with individuals that were in assisted living and also that have dementia. By working with residents with dementia, I was able to learn more about this condition and observe the high-quality healthcare given to these patients.

      Through this opportunity, I have learned more about the healthcare field and the dynamic teamwork present in an office setting. I have been able to record patient's medical history & their chief complaints in addition to documenting important details of patients' visits. This includes physical examination findings, laboratory and radiography studies, and procedures done in the office.I have also been able to work 1 on 1 with several different providers while assisting in procedures including myringotomy & tube placements, biopsies, and epistaxis control. When sending in referrals and surgical orders on behalf of the providers, I have been able to become well versed with Otolaryngology terminology. I am excited to see what more I can learn during the final year of my undergraduate studies! Show less
