In this area of specialization, I research in international contexts, especially in Latin America. Through this work I have analyzed Cold War-era policies enacted at the social level, primarily in Chile, that were used to persecute citizens of diverse gender orientations. Presenting my findings, I established how a lack of policy can sometimes be utilized by oppressive forces to avoid future consequences for persecution. In this role at the University Writing Center, I revised company documents opting for inclusive language and enacted policies that garnered greater support for writers from diverse backgrounds. My goal was to increase our level of representation, so that each student with whom we interact would see themselves in our center.
