      Manager in $5M customer service-based University department. Developed and managed six University-wide transportation demand management (TDM) programs, which enabled the University to receive an “A” for its transportation sustainability initiatives as awarded by the Sustainability Endowments Institute in 2008 and 2009. Led strategic planning and performance improvement initiatives using the Quality New Mexico (Baldridge-based) model, and which resulted in Piñon Recognition by the Governor of New Mexico in 2009. Led Department through strategic planning process and the development of key indicators/measures. Development and distribution of department strategic communications including creating an intra -departmental website, and incorporating social media and video communications. Writing and distribution of press releases, interviews with local press and TV, internal stakeholders, local and state government entities, and neighborhood associations, building and maintaining collaborative relationships with key partners. Full- service HR management of 75+ technical and administrative staff in a mixed union/non-union environment across three operating units including recruitment, performance management, and employee/labor relations. Developed a Department -specific customer service policy and training manual, and led employee training initiatives to improve delivery of services. Developed and delivered customer service survey to track external satisfaction, gather metrics, and strategize on improvement. Creation and delivery of employee professional development and engagement initiatives driven by performance metrics, including sales receipts, customer response, analysis of competition, and comparing with similar operations nationally.       (Contract, term position.) Planned, conducted and delivered comprehensive site-wide building survey at Sandia National Laboratory, in compliance with NEPA requirements. Comprehensive photographic survey of those buildings deemed eligible, utilizing a 4X5 large-format view camera. Methodologies included oral history, archival research, understanding complex scientific/technical materials and rewriting for a lay readership, reading and interpreting architectural and engineering blueprints, web-based research, site visits, database management, application of historic preservation laws and guidelines, GIS mapping, digital SLR and 4X5 large-format camera work, Photoshop, project management and planning skills.       Administrative oversight of project in contract to National Park Service for gathering and archiving historic Route 66 through oral history, coordinating with various state and local organizations dedicated to Route 66 historic preservation. Conduct interviews utilizing oral history methodologies in the gathering of a historic record on Route 66. Draft and edit grant applications (including NEH), proposals, quarterly and annual reports, correspondence. Planned, managed and implemented annual out- of-state Archivist Research Collaborative conferences.       Total administrative responsibility of a collaborative program between UNM College Arts and Sciences and UNM School of Medicine, designed to address the physician shortage in New Mexico by assembling a class of diverse students who are committed to serving New Mexico communities upon completion of the M.D. degree. Oversight of $2M budget; recruitment of potential student candidates through New Mexico and the Navajo Nation; hires, trains, and supervises staff and daily administrative operations of the program; performs or oversees community liaison and outreach activities; participates in the development of student recruitment and retention plans, strategies, and written materials; serves as a liaison to develop partnerships between the University and school systems throughout the state and Navajo Nation; prepares reports and proposals, and responds to inquiries from students and agencies; development of operating goals and objectives for the unit, and recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations. Facility management, technical equipment inventory and maintenance oversight. Manages all planning, organization and coordination of ongoing event planning for colloquia, consortia, and extensive, weekly graduate seminars featuring international and national guest speakers and dignitaries, including scheduling, venue planning, travel and accommodation, purchasing and travel reimbursement. Responsible for total grant coordination to develop additional funding, including NSF and NIH grant proposals, requiring outstanding written skills, ability to read and follow NIH and NSF grant proposal requirements, and the preparation of extensive grant proposal budgets. Responsible for compilation of extensive and highly complex data and statistical informatics across all relevant areas interacting with the PiBBs program for use in grant proposals, reporting to funding agencies and affiliated organizations, and in promoting the PiBBs program to potential graduate students.
