      Sept 2013 - now

Initially employed to cover an 8 week period when a member of staff left, I was then asked to return for the start of the new academic year on a permanent basis. Working in a busy SEND department of a senior school. For the first 3 years I supported a pupil with complex needs in 23 lessons a week, also supporting any other pupils in the same class. Helping with every aspect of learning and making differentiated notes for her to help with her learning. I also did epilepsy training including the administration of epilepsy medication. Then my support was given to other pupils in other years, over all subject areas, I especially enjoyed breaking down science and geography lessons for pupils who need extra support. From September 2018 I began to support new pupils in year 7 and followed the same two classes in every lesson. Between September 2019 and March 2020, I was given the chance to specialise in a subject area by working with all year groups in English literacy and language lessons as well as literacy lessons. Because of COVID-19 I had to learn how to support students via Google Classroom and through video meetings at home for several months during the lockdowns. Once back in school, we had to work in a year group bubble for safety, and so I supported the same students I had previously when they started at our school and through to year 11 when doing their GCSEs and preparing them for moving on to post 16 provisions.I then went back to working with new year 7s after helping with their transition from primary schools. I have been trained in tracheostomy care, which I undertake on a daily basis, and am trained in how to do an emergency tracheostomy change. I have also renewed my first aid certificate and undertaken updated invigilator training. My main role in school is giving support to pupils with an EHCP, whatever their needs, I have the most rewarding job in the world in my opinion. Show less Working initially as a relief lunchtime supervisor, then from September 2012 working to support a new pupil to the school with complex needs over lunch time, whilst also being in sole charge of an area where up to 30 children could eat their packed lunches. Then for the second half of lunch time, supporting in the playground, entertaining the youngest children in the infant school with games, giving basic first aid and supporting the pupil with complex needs until she left the school in December 2013 and I then continued other aspects of my job.
