  As a Systems Architect I was tasked with modernising and improving MiWay's existing application infrastructure as well as developing and maturing their development processes. I was tasked to drive a number of new ventures with partners that would create multiple new distribution channels for the company. I assisted in creating a new service-based architecture for a new application that the company deployed.

  As a Cloud Security Consultant, I provide consulting services to the broader group in terms of the security of Cloud deployed solutions. This includes ensuring the integration of the cloud environment with existing on-premises security operations tooling and environments, embedding Cloud processes into existing Incident Response capabilities, and assessing the risk of newly proposed Cloud-based solutions (be they developed within the Group or acquired externally).Sanlam uses AWS predominantly as it’s Cloud Service Provider of choice, however, due to the ubiquity of the Microsoft toolset across the business, further expansion into Microsoft Azure is currently in progress. As CSC I have provided consulting services in the development of the Azure Landing Zone, implementation of the initial components, and consulting on security in new Azure workloads.As a DevSecOps Consultant I drive the implementation of security capabilities within the DevOps environment across the Group. This includes creating a generalized, technology-agnostic model for DevSecOps which is used to guide the measurement of maturity of implementations, the creation of standards to be applied across the group, assisting with implementation of the designed security controls, and monitoring the DevSecOps environment for compliance and improvement. Show less As Information Security Officer I am responsible for governance and management aspects of Information Security related activities within the business. This includes technical vulnerability management, training of regular business users and developers, awareness activities, policy drafting and enforcement, risk management, information governance, and logical access management. This requires engagement with many Sanlam Group bodies to coordinate activities and ensure that all aspects of these responsibilities are conducted. Show less As the Head of Enterprise Architecture at Sanlam Sky, I manage and lead a team which provides architecture and user experience design support for both projects and business-as-usual activities in a complex, agile business environment. The team and I maintain the enterprise architecture of the business, research new technologies, develop positioning and strategies for these technologies, as well as identify opportunities for enhancing and making the enterprise more efficient. The architecture team consists of both technical (focused on the .NET/C# space) and business design specialists. This necessitates high levels of business and technical knowledge and collaboration within the team. The team and I also engage with numerous Sanlam Group bodies on architecture governance and alignment issues, thus ensuring that all internal initiatives are compliant and aligned with group-wide strategy.
