  The 2nd Commando Regiment is a joint enabled expeditionary Special Operations force capable of operating across the land, sea or air domains beyond the range and scope of other Australian Defence Force force elements. The Regiment is a force in readiness for the conduct of Advance Force Operations and Direct Action missions. Some key tasks include:# Conduct discriminate offensive operations with the ability to reach, strike and return to an operating base. This includes the provision of military signature overseas Special Recovery options.# Precision neutralisation of personnel or infrastructure, the disruption or seizure of key terrain, enabling systems or capabilities to shape the environment for follow-on forces.# Tailored short notice response to counter domestic terrorist threats within the land and maritime environments.These tasks are conducted both overseas and domestically where the Regiment is optimised to conduct responsive, scalable and tailored special operations, teamed with other Special Operations Command Force Elements, Services and Interagency partners in joint and combined operations.
