      This was my first job out of high school, I maintained this job while going to college full time. I was cross trained between sandwich making, cashier, janitorial work. We maintained long hours of customer service whilst cleaning and working together to provide for the customer without management supervision. We worked the cash drawer, maintained proper cleanliness, learned and memorized menus and prices, managed cash drops and inventory counts, and worked under pressure for quick problem solving. I was trained in office duties, such as computer work, data entry, document making, bill paying, as well as minor cleaning tasks and outside maintenance. I carried out receptionist duties such as answering phones and directing visitors and clerical tasks including filing, scheduling, and placing orders for the office and farm. I kept track of, copied, and filed all incoming and outgoing mail--including paying mail-in bills and processing invoices. I was also trained to work in the hop field for when we were short on field workers. I was trained to decipher between the hop plant and weeds, then how to properly train the hop plants to grow in one direction, and finally how to remove the hop from the vine and their aftercare.       This was a seasonal position I acquired as a supplemental income during the summer between semesters of college. I provided transportation from parcel to parcel as the driver. We worked in teams to practice field assessment protocol, such as notifying citizens of our duties and giving them proper documentation for our presence and their upcoming tax assessments, and answer any questions they may have about the process. We measured the dimensions of major building structures on parcels as well as noting smaller details about a property, while documenting these layouts in a sketch format.       I applied for this position to further my work experience in the psychology field as that is what I had been studying at IVCC. I initially acquired this position as a bridge between just having jobs and starting my career, however I plan to keep this job as a supplemental income to my career position because I love the work we do. I work with our clients, volunteers, and other community members to provide the overall security, housing, meals, case management, and any other services that are needed to accomplish the mission of helping the homeless; complete facility checks; properly fill out, complete, and file paperwork; manage incoming phone calls; administer or encourage life skills classes; attend to and enter new clients into the program; communicate effectively with all shifts; communicate all case notes for each client thoroughly and accurately for records and future case management; and provide for all the needs for the clients in our care, from basic hygiene to socialization, in such a way that we promote and enhance their ability to provide for themselves, from life skills to mental health, while helping them acquire proper jobs and housing. Along with all general case management and protection, we also provide a variety of classes for the clients to further educate and create confidence in themselves. I I teach the computer class, in a group setting and also one on one, and assist in leading the bible study class. I teach clients the basic computer skills needed to acquire basic jobs, how to create a cover letter and resume, and the basics of how to manipulate Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. I started as Assistant Supervisor in January of 2020 and in August of 2020 I was promoted to Case Manager. Show less
