  I headed up the initiative to establish the first democratically elected School Governing Bodies in Gauteng, and contributed to writing the South African Schools Act.

  This was a school and district improvement project run in 4 provinces over a 4 year period. The objective was to look at sustainable school improvement through running effective dictrict offices.

  As General Manager of HR Strategic Projects, I was responsible for Training and Development, Performance Management, Social Plan, CSI and Talent. I established the Denel Centre for Learning and Development (DCLD) that provided services to the South Africa para-statals (Escom, Transnet, Denel, SAA) through the School of Aerospace, the Apprentice School, the Graduate School and the School of Business.

  Researched and developed a new learning strategy for the Retail Bank in Absa, South Africa for its 23 000 employees. The strategy, called LEAP, was piloted and rolled out across the Retail Bank from 2008.

  I managed the Leadership development, learning strategy and implementation and talent management and development for the 12 countries in the Barclays Africa fold, incl Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia, Mauritius, Seychelles, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

  As Facilitator of Leadership Effectiveness Programmes for Corporates and organisations across Africa I assist Leaders in getting greater awareness of their strengths and development areas, their blind spots and triggers to enable them to lead more effectively. I use the Enneagram for this, amongst other tools.   I am certified as a Professional Coach through the International Coaching Federation (ICF). I am involved in coaching individuals (Executive leaders, managers and other employees) as well as private individuals. My coaching approach is based on Integral Coaching, which looks at the person holistically, and assists individuals to find the answers to the dilemmas they may be experiencing through appropriate coaching tools. Coaching is a powerful way of sustaining behaviour change, and is a great investment companies and organisations can make for their employees.
