      Shorelines (Writer, Director & Editor)

Used my writing skills to create a story from the scratch and then transformed it using various techniques to create a screenplay, which then was edited multiple times and finalized after 6 drafts. This was in English. Then sat down with the dialogue writer and worked on three other drafts to make the film in Gujarati. - Had a discussion with a poem translator who translated all the English poems into Gujarati which suited the film. - Took off my writer's hat and wore a director's cap, had discussions with my cinematographer, and we visualized the film together. - Involved my sound designer in the process to create a beautiful and a chaotic soundscape for the film. - Wore my director's hat for more than a month before the shoot happened, finalized casting, costume, locations and also the menu that will be there on the set. - Used my production skills, and with the help of my assistant directors, managed the logistics of a 5-day shoot including accommodation and hotel booking for the actors. The food for the crew and the location challenges all were managed by me and my team. - I also mainly focused on the direction side of things by monitoring actor's performances and reducing as many takes as possible because of being on a tight schedule. - Finally we moved to post-production where I was editing the film, and I trimmed the shots and finally made a 34-minute film out of the footage which went on for 3 hours. - Made multiple cuts and variations of the film and finally decided to move with the cut that worked for me as an editor but also as a director. - Again had to lace up my direction boots as we moved onto the final phase of the film which was sound and music. Had conversations with my sound designer and the music composer to create a beautiful track for the film. - Ended this film on a high with multiple learning experiences that I will hold on to for a lifetime Show less
