      Served in the USMC Reserve through college and first few years of career. 4th LSB Seattle was activated during the 1990-1991 Operation Desert Shield/Operation Desert Storm. Served as Motor Transport Operator (3531) with ambulance, high explosives, and tractor-trailer licenses. Honorably Discharged in May 1993 as Sergeant, (E-5). 'Marine of the Quarter' Award 1987, Earned Leadership award at NCO school August 1989 graduating at top of class.

      Recruited on the Univ. of Washington campus as part of a nationwide search for the best candidates; I earned 1 of the 7 positions just before graduation to participate in an intensive 8-month sales and marketing training program. The marketing executive program included 'Out-of-Home' media, (billboards and airport advertising) in Seattle, WA. Part 2 was at KGET TV NBC 17 in Bakersfield, CA. Part 3 was at WAXY FM, a Hot Adult Contemporary radio station at Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Part 4 was at W-BOS FM, an easy listening Adult Contemporary radio station in Boston, MA. Upon completion of the program, I moved to Bakersfield, CA and worked at the NBC station from 1991- 1995.
