    • USC AeroDesign Team

      Aug 2011 - May 2013

Organized and encouraged 25 undergraduate engineering students to compete in the AIAA's Design, Build, Fly Competition. In preparation for the competition, the team built R/C aircraft and developed manufacturing skills associated with materials including balsa wood, carbon fiber, fiber glass, and kevlar. The Chief Engineer was also responsible for approving any and all changes to designs and providing help to any division of the team that had run in to an engineering hurdle. Similarly to how engineering teams of the industry operate, strength, feasibility/reliability, and performance tests were continuously conducted and presented weekly to a group of 40 including general members of the team and four team advisors with decades of experience in the Aerospace industry. Two design reviews were also created and delivered throughout the course of the year to 20 current members of the aerospace industry from companies including Raytheon, SpaceX, Boeing, AeroVironment, Lockheed Martin, and many more. Research Lab Volunteer

Worked with biologists studying fruit flies to develop customized mounts. Once the mounts were finalized, they were drawn in SolidWorks and sent to a 3rd party shop to have manufactured from aluminum or 3D-printed. Researched and purchased a 3D printer for the lab. Worked out the initial learning curve of the printer and delivered a presentation to all members of the lab detailing the advantages of the printer and its ability to reduce costs from constantly ordering manufactured parts. Continue to manage and maintain the 3D printer. Also built, aligned, and continue to operate a light sheet fluorescence microscope. Worked with a biologist to study and image progenitor cells in the tails of zebrafish embryos. These studies aimed to illuminate the differentiation of these cells to either skeletal muscle cells or spinal cord neurons. Show less
