      Intern - molecular plant physiology

      Internship research on bolting in Arabidopsis Thaliana on both physiological and molecular level. Different genes of interest were cloned and overexpressed in A. Thaliana to test if they have any effect on the bolting process. Main techniques used; ClearSee, Southern blot, floral dipping, confocal laser microscopy, GateWay cloning and other general DNA recombination and genetic techniques.

      Technician researcher at the UvA with Silke Allmann. The main task is the rearing and maintaining the Manduca Sexta colony including the Wild-types and Hexenal-Isomerase knockouts Research technician for the group of Petra Bleeker together with Ruy Kortbeek and Marc Galland. Research on tomato trichomes and various compounds performed by performing qPCR, genotyping using molecular markers, plant-insect interactions bioassays using trips and whitefly and setting-up a microscope-photography method. Helped on the publication of Galland et al. 2019 by gaining results and visualizing the trichomes using the photography method. Internship research and thesis on hexenal-isomerase (HI) of Manduca sexta in the oral secretion. The research goal was to determine if other Lepidopterans also have the HI and which genes are responsible for the conversion of certain Green leave volatiles. Main techniques used; GateWay cloning, protein purification, GC-QToF-MS, western blot, Bradford assay, Mismatch-Cleavage assay and other general DNA recombination and genetic techniques.
