      Sept 2013 - May 2014
      Research Assistant

I work with the Eklund Group on a variety of related polymer synthesis projects. My research is made possible with funding from the Louisiana Space Consortium.-Adapting synthetic/analytical methods from literature to meet project goals-FT-IR, Raman, and UV/Vis spectroscopy-Developing organic synthesis procedures-Developing a novel peroxide-based free radical generator-Standard statistical analysis-Silica nanoparticle surface modification-Studies on polymer synthesis methods-Maintaining safe laboratory environment during all procedures Show less

    • Shell

      Aug 2014 - now

I support both the EOEG unit (ethylene oxide/ethylene glycols) and the HFE module (hydroformylation/ethoxylation) in analytical and process chemistry. At a high level, my role is split between that of a product quality focal point and that of a laboratory chemist, although I find these are complementary activities in practice. My professional development tends to focus on understanding unit processes from a chemical perspective, and using this knowledge to develop analytical solutions for their upsets. I have been able to learn and deploy a lot of tools in my time at Shell. Whether it is training machine learning models to predict PQ events or developing analytical methods from scratch, I thrive when I am challenged. Some highlights of this role:-Chemometrics focal point for an online Raman analyzer pilot project-Method development-Non-routine analysis-NIR modeling-Enhanced troubleshooting-Product Specification Management Show less
