  "Awaken Youth" Project Coodinator

  Thie Awaken Youth project aims to train 75 university students from 5 Northern governorates ( Béja, Bizerte Jendouba, El Kef, Tunis) (15 participants , seven boys and eight girls from each governorate) in a curriculum focused on accountability and transparency. These 75 participants will gain these skills in workshops over a 25-day period divided on 5 seminars (5 days each and one seminar in each governorate). 5 groups from 5 governorates will then take the skills they learned to implement a community accountability and transparency project in their local communities. Initiatives may include, Round table discussions with elected officials and community members on pressing issues, a Website to report abuses and concerns with elected officials, a magazine or newsletter to report on local political and community activities, and public education awareness campaigns in the remote areas.During a span of 2 phases, the teams will develop their projects on the ground to further educate and engage citizens to ensure their local governing officials maintain openness and transparency in their new policies and procedures. During the final meeting, the teams will report on their experiences and create long-term vision plans for sustaining their projects after the end of the program as well as brainstorming mechanisms by which these youth can work with their local government to incorporate their projects with the support of local authorities and help sustain their initiatives.
