      I had three different roles which all required different skills and quailities:Duty OfficerAs a Duty Officer I have to maintain a safe environment for members of the public. I have to ensure the set ups for classes, activities and events are correct and start on time. In addition to this I assist the receptionists with their tasks. This job was part of a rosta which required working unsociable hours and at weekends. ReceptionistAs a receptionist I am the first point of contact with the customer therefore it is important to ensure the customer feels welcome. I my duties involved dealing with customer bookings, memberships and enquires and selling memberships.Senior Holiday Programme Instructor I was responsible for planning the holiday’s activity schedule, training other members of staff, organising and instructing a range of sporting activities, quizzes, arts and craft sessions which have to be suitable for children between the ages of 5-11 years old.       Assistant Sports Development Worker

      This role involved assisting the Sports Development Officer to co-ordinate over 50 sports courses over the summer holiday in 2012. This involved office based work such as sorting applications, organising registers, taking payments and planning the equipment needed for the courses. Once the course had started I dropped equipment the the venues, inducted coaches, helped with the delivery of sessions and ensured the courses ran smoothly. Once the courses had finished I helped with the evaluating of the individual courses and the programme as a whole. This experience gave me knowledge of the scale of the Summer Fun programme and the demand of sport in Brighton and Hove. Show less

      My role involved processing people’s cherished documents in relation to their policies they hold with Prudential. I am was part of a team of twelve people and as a team we had to create letters, prepare the letters to be scanned on to a computer and reconcile other people’s work to ensure all details were correct. The work had to be completed by certain times to be within the time agreed as part of the service level agreement. This role was very focused on working to deadlines and attention to detail.       My role involves developing physical activity opportunities within Brighton and Hove. This involves setting up new sessions, developing and sustaining current activities and engaging with the community. In addition to this I work with a lot of different partners across Brighton and Hove to run sporting events and support different partner events. For example, I am supporting the charity Mind for World Mental Health day by running activities at their event. I also coach under 7's football, an after school Multi-Sports sessions and have recently taken on the responsibility of co-ordinating 12 activity sessions across Brighton and Hove. I am developing my knowledge of community work by attending Community Engagement training which The Trust of Developing Communities run. My role involves monitoring and evaluation the session to see where the sessions can be improved. This role is varied and can be challenging which is why I enjoy the role as I am helping people become more active in the deprived areas within Brighton and Hove. This role has help expand my knowledge of partnership working, the role of the local authority and has also helped me build the foundations of which I would like to build my career from. Show less

      As a FDO my main roles is to develop more opportunities for children to play football. I work closely with local football teams, Lincolnshire FA and organisations in Gainsborough. I am currently developing football opportunities for girls aged 7-11 by coaching in schools and sign posting girls to local clubs to create girl football teams. I also help develop education opportunities for coaches, plan school tournaments, assist with leadership,opportunities for the local high school. I am starting a Soccercise football session to engage girls aged 11+ with Positive Futures partnering the Sportivate project. I help develop coaches at local football teams by assisting with training, running training sessions and offering my experience for coaches to learn from. This role has helped develop my ability to work on my own initiative to create opportunities for all abilities to play football. Show less

      Working as a School Games Organiser my role is to plan, organise and deliver sports events for school in Doncaster. In addition to this, my role involves co-ordinating a Leadership Academy, advocating 60 minutes activity for children and young people and support schools to engage in the wider of the School Games.As a Sports Development Officer I write and support team members to write funding bids, lead on the strategic delivery of large scale projects and collaborate data in to reports/case studies. In addition to this I coach, deliver CPD to teachers and support other team members with their work areas. Show less
