  As an engineering intern, I have designed storage tanks in accordance with API 650 standards. I have assisted in the preparation of tank bill of quantities (BOQs) and carrying out calculations for tank stability, weight, and shell thickness. Tank designing involves:- Identifying the type of tank (vertical or horizontal), determining the capacity required, and selecting appropriate materials.- Analyzing the environmental conditions at the tank site, such as wind and seismic loads, and determining the operating conditions (product temperature and pressure.)- Determining the minimum required shell thickness by considering factors such as the design pressure, product density, and wind and seismic loads.- Calculation of thickness of the roof and bottom.- Nozzles are placed on the shell fabrication drawing by finding circumference per degree and height.- Tank foundation must be designed to support the weight of the tank and its contents, and to withstand environmental loads (wind and seismic activity.)
