      Engineering Summer Intern

During my time with Electric Boat I worked in three different departments (one each summer), Shock Vehicle Testing, Mechanical and Weapons System, and the Ohio Replacement Class. As a member of the Shock Testing department I assisted engineers as they carried out their daily duties. The culmination of my summer was me heading my own project from start to finish. As a member of the Mechanical and Weapons System department I conducted a feasability study for an upcoming design addition. I also assisted engineers by performing various calculations, including the sizing of an electric actuator. My last year while I was in the Ohio Replacement Dept. I assisted the group by compiling regulations, and design criteria. I also assisted by perfoming design calculations. Show less

      Nov 2012 - Dec 2016
      Process Engineer

My role with Air Liquide Healthcare - Scott Medical Products is multifaceted. As the plant's Process/Project/Plant engineer I am in charge of designing, managing, and installing capital projects. As well as, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, supporting the Plant Operations group by providing maintenance and engineering support, supporting the engineering group by maintaining plant P&IDs and participating in Process Hazard Analysis, and implementing cost saving measures.Capital improvement projects that I have managed range from several months to several years, and from a few thousand dollars up to $100,000. This allowed me to work closely with plant operations to ensure the product is delivered on time and on budget. At times this required me to turn the wrench and install the equipment to ensure successful completion.Continuous improvement initiatives focused on implementing Lean Manufacturing principles to our several processes. Our low pressure line had an increase in production rate of 5% without any capital investments. Our cryogen production production line reduced the man hours/lot by 25% without reducing the production rate.Cost saving measures that I have implemented included the followingo Cylinder re-use is estimated to save $35,000 per year.o Aerosol can supplier change netted $2,200 in yearly savingso Packaging change lead to $2,400 in raw material savings.
